Enrolment Information

GENERAL INFORMATION (FOR ALL ENROLMENTS)
Parent/carers applying to enrol a child in a public school should firstly complete the Application for Enrolment form.

Only permanent Australian residents and those children holding an approved visa subclass number are eligible to enrol in public schools.

The Application for Enrolment form enables parents/carers to express an interest in seeking a placement in the school. The Application for Enrolment form does not guarantee enrolment. It just formally expresses a desire to seek a placement.

Submit your application for enrolment at your local school as soon as possible along with copies of:

  • your child's birth certificate (telephone the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages on 1300 305 021 if you do not have one)

  • your child's Immunisation History Statement (for instructions on how to obtain this statement visit the Department of Health)

  • proof of your current address (such as a recent electricity, water, telephone or bank statement)

  • copies of Family Court orders for confirmation of proof of name or custody arrangements.

Once a student has been formally offered a placement, parents/carers will be asked to complete a    Student Enrolment Form   to complete the enrolment process.

APPLICATIONS FOR KINDERGARTEN, PRE-PRIMARY, YEAR 1 FOR THE FIRST TIME
Applications for the first round of offers for Kindergarten, Pre-primary and Year 1 are accepted any time during the year before attending until the closing date. This is usually the last Friday in July.

Applications after this date will be considered on a case by case basis, in accordance with the Enrolment policy and classroom availability. Once accepted, you will be required to complete formal enrolment procedures at the school.

Parents will need to provide evidence of the child's legal name, immunisation records, immigration records (if applicable) and medical information. Any Family Court Orders or parenting plans registered with the Family Court should also be made available at the time of enrolment.

If your Application for Enrolment is not accepted, you will be advised in writing

within three weeks of the advertised closing date for applications.

MANAGING ENROLMENTS
A school under enrolment pressure may be declared to be a local-intake school by the delineation of a local-intake area.

All compulsory-aged children who live in the local-intake area are guaranteed enrolment. The same guarantee applies at the pre-compulsory level subject to the availability of accommodation.

There is a clear process in place that enables schools to manage enrolments in the event that the levels of enrolments outweigh the level of available accommodation within the school. In simple terms the priority order is as follows:

Priority 1: Children living within our catchment zone with siblings already attending.
Priority 2: Children living within our catchment zone without siblings at the school.
Priority 3: Children living outside our catchment zone with siblings already attending the school. People living closest to the school have priority.
Priority 4: Children living outside our catchment zone without siblings at the school. People living closest to the school have priority.
